Weber Point Community Center

The Weber Point Community Center is a place that people should be drawn to. A neutral safe place with lots of light; a place where people of the community can express themselves without judgement and
enjoy the company of others while still having the opportunity to “escape” the harsh realities of life.
Nature is imbibed into the space through windows and skylights in order for people to have the chance to observe and reconnect with it. The community center should be an extension of the surrounding outside space; this will be achieved by wood elements and earth toned materials. It will be representative of the town that it is located in (Stockton).
Because Stockton is a big urban area that is surrounded by farmland and water, those two
settings will be interpreted into the design aesthetic of the building. It will pay homage to the people who originally lived there (Miwok Indians). The center will also promote activities for children especially in the areas of education, music, and art. All of this will be incorporated using urban/country rustic design
finishes to reflect the town as well as promote the fun and safety expected of the community center.
