Denny's Renovation - Daltile 2013 Student Competition

When thinking of a space that could really use an update using Daltile products, I immediately thought of Denny’s Restaurant. Denny’s country-wide is known for its signature yellow and red logo and signage, diner atmosphere, and the American-style food. While Denny’s is a standard restaurant found in almost every town in America, they haven’t improved on their signature look in years.
In this specific Denny’s location, the idea was to stick to the general concept that Denny’s has followed for years, but modernize and clean up the design. The carpet in the dining room was
replaced with brown and beige plank field tiles; the old tan tile in the cueing space exchanged for black glazed porcelain from the Concrete Connection collection. With the floor revived with new materials, the rest of the space was revitalized with new wallpaper and eye-catching ceramic tile borders around the dining area. The Daltile products used in this renovation helped reinterpret the space in a way that makes the restaurant more sophisticated and yet it still retains that classic “diner feel.”Denny’s no longer appears as tired, and attracts those who may have avoided the restaurant in the past.

The overall layout of the space remains the same, just with some cosmetic changes.

The current dining area is dated and the colors are dull - the proposed renovation inputs more color and texture.
